Former Post Office Boss Angela van den Bogerd Testifies

Network Manager Gives Evidence at Public Inquiry

Angela van den Bogerd, the former network manager at the Post Office, has given evidence at the public inquiry into the Post Office Horizon scandal.

Van den Bogerd, who worked at the Post Office for over 30 years, joined PR boss Mark Davies and another senior manager in giving evidence at the inquiry.

The inquiry is investigating the Post Office's use of the Horizon computer system, which has been blamed for causing wrongful convictions and financial losses for hundreds of subpostmasters.

Van den Bogerd told the inquiry that she had raised concerns about the Horizon system to senior management on several occasions, but that her concerns were not acted upon.

She said that she had been told by senior management that the Horizon system was "robust" and that there was no need to worry about it.

However, Van den Bogerd said that she had seen evidence that the Horizon system was not working properly.

She said that she had seen unexplained discrepancies in the system's data, and that she had also seen cases where the system had crashed.

Van den Bogerd's evidence is likely to be damaging to the Post Office, which has been accused of deliberately ignoring warnings about the Horizon system.

The inquiry is continuing.
